Data we collect

When you sign in, we receive and store account information from the identity provider used on your platform:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your provider-specific account identifier used to recognise your account

On iOS, Splitsies uses Sign in with Apple. On Android, Splitsies uses Google Sign-In.

We also store the group, expense, settlement, balance, currency, and activity data you create within the app so Splitsies can sync your groups and show accurate shared expense history.

If you add receipt photos, we store the uploaded photos and related image records so they can be shown to authorised group members.

On iOS, we process Apple Push Notification service device tokens when notifications are enabled. On Android, we process Firebase Cloud Messaging device tokens for push notifications and limited Firebase Analytics events needed to operate, secure, and improve the Android app.

Purpose

We use this data solely to:

  • Create and maintain your Splitsies account
  • Display your name to members of groups you belong to
  • Track shared expenses, receipts, balances, activity, and settlements on your behalf
  • Send app notifications when enabled

We do not use your app data for advertising, profiling, selling, or tracking you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We use service providers where needed to run the app, including Sign in with Apple on iOS, Google Sign-In on Android, Apple Push Notification service for iOS push notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android push notifications, and Firebase Analytics for Android app analytics. These providers process limited data on our behalf to deliver those services.

Data retention

Your account data is stored for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove direct identifiers such as your email address, identity-provider account linkage, device-token registrations, and your ability to access the app.

We retain minimized shared expense records that are necessary for other group members to keep accurate balances, history, receipts, exports, and settlement records. Deleted accounts are shown as Deleted User in retained shared history.

Account deletion

You can delete your account directly in the app from Profile → Delete Account.

Deleting your account is permanent. Shared expenses, settlements, receipts, and exports that affect other group members may remain in minimized form as described above, but your active account access and direct identifiers are removed immediately.
